Purpose and Mission of the Academic Relations Committee:


Provide a framework for information exchange among and for the mutual benefit of the Chapter, academic community, and business community in support and enhancement of relationships among the faculty/student bodies of universities with the Chapter and the IS audit and control profession.

Maintain close communication with local university activities, encourage student member ship in ISACA, and provide feedback and direction for the ISACA Model Curriculum and COBIT in Academia TM initiatives.

Assist in the development of new education programs for the Chapter and membership.
 
Objectives of the Academic Relations Committee:

Create a variety of communication vehicles for promoting information exchange and enhancement of relationships among the faculty/student bodies of universities with the Chapter and the IS audit and control profession.

Support ISACA International initiatives for advancing the Academic Relations program by providing feedback and direction for the ISACA Model Curriculum and COBIT in Academia TM initiatives, as well as any new tools ISACA International introduces.

Develop activities directed toward faculty and students, as well as integration of the academic community, business community and Chapter membership to promote the IT Governance professions, ISACA certifications, career and networking opportunities.

Maintain documentation on all available information materials available via ISACA International, Chapter Academic Advocates, Student members, activities held, and participant feedback.

Role of the Academic Advocate:

Promote and use the ISACA Model Curriculum in university programs

Present COBIT principles and framework within campus courses

Highlight/Promote CISA certification as an option for the students

Work towards having the IS Control Journal available in the university/college library

Communicate with local chapter representatives (i.e., Academic Relations director and committee) on activities that will promote an exchange of information, stronger relationships, and opportunities for integration of the academic community, business community and Chapter membership to promote the IT Governance professions, ISACA certifications, career and networking opportunities.

 
Student Membership Program:

Available to full-time undergraduate or graduate students.

Students within 50 miles of an ISACA chapter must join the chapter.

ISACA International student membership annual dues reduced to $25 and new member fee is waived.

Chicago Chapter student membership dues will be waived with proper identification of student status.
